A Supportive Community Means a Strong Future
The Black community strives relentlessly not just to overcome challenges but change the systems that sustain these problems and support aspiring entrepreneurs and small business owners. Supporting Black businesses assists the entire economy.
From 2012 to 2017, black-owned small businesses grew by 79 percent. From 1997 to 2015, the number of businesses owned by Black women grew an amazing 322 percent (making them the largest growing group of entrepreneurs at that time). Despite the challenges they face, it’s clear that Black small business owners are becoming more and more populous and using the entrepreneurial journey to empower their community. We need community partners like you to help push the culture of ownership, equity and equality for our businesses. IBCC will take a boots on the ground approach. We are eager to help and develop successful business.
From Consumers To Creators!
If we are going to tackle our wealth gap, we have to include our young business owners. Black creators no longer think of their virtual actions as distinct from “in real life” behavior and have leveraged digital platforms, particularly social media, music, podcasting, and creating apps to affect real-world change. Young creators are becoming influencers and digital entrepreneurs which presents a tremendous growth opportunity in a culturally accurate way.

Secure partnerships or alliances with dedicated corporations and ensure compliance with Title VI of the 1964 Civil Rights Act at federal, state and local governments and also with prime contractors.
Improve the knowledge base of existing programs for Black business owners while creating our own marketable viable products.

Becoming Certified and the Application Process
Relative Certifications; Historically Underutilized Business (HUB), Disadvantaged Business Enterprises (DBE), Minority Business Enterprises (MBE) and Woman-owned Business Enterprises (WBE), Small Business Enterprise (SBE); means that a small business owned by a member of an ethnic group (below) is verified to be a member of the group and meets the established requirements in conducting business and have the maximum practical opportunity to participate in City, State, and Federal contracting and purchasing activities through an application process. Approved applications verify that the business owner (Vendor) meets the established requirements and is considered Certified.
A Certified Business has an advantage to give purchasing managers, contractors, lenders, customers, and others business partners evidence their company is owned by a member of an eligible group and is registered as a Certified Business.
Becoming Certified is a priority Member Benefit Program of Innovation Black Chamber of Commerce. IBCC’s Strategic Plan is for all Member Firms to do good business and become Certified Vendors in participating in all Public Entities procurement activities and contracts.
Members Of The Following Groups are Eligible For the Purpose of Certification:
- Black Americans – persons with origins from any Black racial group of Africa
- Hispanic Americans – persons of Mexican, Puerto Rican, Cuban, Central/South Americans, Spanish or Portuguese culture or origins, regardless of race
- Native Americans – persons who are American Indians, Eskimos, Aleuts, or Native Hawaiians
- Asian Pacific Americans – persons with origins from Burma, Thailand, Malaysia, Indonesia, Singapore, Brunei, Japan, China, Taiwan, Laos, Cambodia, (Kampuchea), Vietnam, Korea, the Philippines, Samoa, Guam, the U.S. Trust Territories of the Pacific Islands, Federated States of Micronesia, or the Commonwealth of the Northern Marinas Islands, Macao, Naura

Grand openings: You have the opportunity to choose from a Ribbon Cutting, a Grand Prayer Opening or both.
Grand Prayer Opening: You can choose who you want to have prayer or we can assist with this with your advisor.
You may qualify if you’re a Veteran, and you or another Veteran at your company meet all of the requirements listed below.
All of these must be true. You or another Veteran at your company:
- Owns 51% or more of the company you want to register, and
- Has full control over the day-to-day management, decision-making, and strategic policy of the business, and
- Has the managerial experience needed to manage the business, and
- Is the highest-paid person in the company (or can provide a written statement explaining why you’re taking lower pay helps the business), and
- Works full time for the business, and
- Holds the highest officer position in the company
To be considered a Veteran, at least one of these must be true. You:
- Served on active duty with the Army, Air Force, Navy, Marine Corps, or Coast Guard for any length of time and didn’t receive a dishonorable discharge, or
- Served as a Reservist or member of the National Guard and were called to federal active duty or disabled from a disease or injury that started or got worse in the line of duty or while in a training status
You may qualify if you meet all the requirements of a VOSB listed above, and either you or another Veteran owner of the company meets at least one of the requirements listed below.
You or another Veteran owner of the company must have at least one of these:
- A disability rating letter from us confirming that you have a service-connected disability rating between 0 and 100%, or
- A disability determination from the Department of Defense
